Getting a Marriage License

To get married in Ohio it is best to apply about one month before your wedding. You should call the Clerk of Court's office to see what documents are required for your Marriage License. They can tell you what documents you need to bring, and about how many days it takes to receive your license.
You also need to know that the license expires if not used after so many days, so by applying too early it could require re-applying and re-paying all the fees. Check with the Clerk of Court's Office to verify this information.
Once you receive your Marriage Certificate, you still need a Judge, Justice of the Piece, or any legally recognized licensed or ordained clergyman to make the license a legal binding document.
